Here in the UK it has to be said that most of the population are in union when it comes to disliking Traffic Wardens, something to do with them enjoying their job I think. However many councils here in the UK have got another method of catching you parking illegally that is unfair and has several flaws.
Ghost ticketing is when a council will use their CCTV cameras to actually catch someone that is parked illegally and issue them the ticket in that way. They are looking to do this partly because hiring a private firm is expensive and partly because doing it this way gives them a higher chance to catch someone which of course in turn gives them more money.
Why This Is Bad?
One of the major flaws to this seems to come if the person in the car is disabled? The councils already doing this have already stated that it is almost impossible to see if the person driving has a disabled badge or not which means many disabled people could actually be receiving parking fines for no reason. This is not fair at all for the person that is disabled, they then have to go out of their way to cancel the fine.
Crime Prevention?
With the cameras more focused on people that are parked illegally what happens top the crime levels. It would be very interesting to see if the crime rates rise because of this.
Fair
It is hard for people to argue against this form of ticket because they will not even know about it until it comes through the letterbox. Surely this means that people are likely to actually forget the date and time, not fair if they actually had an excuse.
All of this is not going to help you when looking for bad credit car loans as well as cheap lease cars. Parking tickets do also not help when looking for specific deals like gap insurance.
